Negative Reinforcement. It's when something get's taken away in order to increase a behavior. Like when you get in the car and it beeps at you until you put your seat belt on. Like when you get to work and the alarm beeps at you until you turn it off.
Or... until you try to turn it off, but the code has changed and nobody told you. And so the alarm starts screeching as loud as it can, and you frantically start calling your mom. And then a lady comes on the intercom and says in a demanding voice, "Identify yourself!" So you do, and she says thanks and disappears. And then the alarm continues blaring on.
So you sit down at the desk and drink your Jamba Juice, thinking about Flash Mobs and late nights, and wait patiently for the alarm to decide you're a good person... or your mom to call you back.
