cheating death and shredding paper

this is how you wear a turtle neck, right?
my sister Abi sent me an e-card.
an e-card!
I haven't received one of those since jr. high!
needless to say, i was thrilled.
Yesterday at work I was shredding things. And I mean shredding things. I shredded binder after binder of old documents. (this is because my office is moving to a new building.)
And as I was shredding, I was thinking to myself,
"Self... I really hope none of these binders was mistakenly thrown in the pile. I really hope no one comes up to me and asks why I am shredding the most valuable binder in the building. I mean, even if they did, it wouldn't be my fault. How am I supposed to know what any of these papers mean? Well, Self, let's just cross our fingers."
And then the shredder got jammed.
This was all after I rode the elevator of death... I'm serious. The whole thing started rocking back and forth on the way up. I was very concerned.
And I became even more concerned when while walking up the stairs into my building, a squirrel started making very angry noises and staring me right in the eyes.
I am lucky to be alive.
And don't you worry, I also consumed about 20 pumpkin chocolate chip cookies yesterday as well. I mean, what's the big deal? I figure I deserve a good reward.
You know, after all that shredding.
So, the moral of the story is:
Send your friends E-CARDS! Nothing like a little bit of throw-back love.
Remember the days of email for fun?
None of this newfangled texting and tweeting and blogging and facebooking...
Back in my day... we had to email little notes to each other! (picture me saying that in a grandma voice. and waving a cane.)

p.s. i want to travel somewhere cool. but i have no money. sigh... why is money even a part of life? so over it.
