water and me. you just never know.

This past weekend I did something a little crazy. I mean, crazy for me. Because you may recall from earlier posts like this one that I am not a huge water person. As in, I love looking at it, wading in it, sitting in it, drinking it... but splashing? no. Swimming? no. Bumping around on some flotation device? not anymore. (I loved boating when I was a kid... and now I prefer to just ride in the boat. I don't know what happened to me, so don't ask.)

But you know, when you get married, you get this whole new family. And they don't really know or care about your aversion to water activities. They think you better just get on the jet ski and not be a pouter. So what choice did I have? (Ok, this is probably an exaggeration, they're a really nice new family, and they didn't force me. Let the record show.) I mean, there was Alex wading into the water and whining that he "wants to ride with MADELINE!!" I couldn't just let him go out there alone. Not with that sentiment hanging in the air. Hey, I've still got to impress him sometimes. So I wandered out there with him, trying not to be nervous about fish hitting my legs, and climbed aboard a jet ski. Alex clipped me in, and told me how to start the machine. (you press the start button. i know.) And then he told me to just take off! So I did, you know, at about 20 miles per hour.

I don't know, guys. I just don't get myself sometimes. It was like 80% of me wanted to fly on that thing across the water, and go in circles and maybe even get thrown into the water. But there was this super smarty-pants part of me that was like, no dangerous stuff, girl. You ain't gonna live forever. What is it about getting older and suddenly understanding the vulnerability of your own life?

I finally got to about 45 miles per hour, but Alex decided to take over and drove me in a super fast circle and that was THAT.  I told him NO MORE. I want to go BACK. So that was me being a big baby, and spending most of the day on the beach talking and getting sunburned out of my skin. Which is why now I am hobbling all over the place because my legs hurt so bad I can barely walk.

And may I just say that a pet peeve of mine is when people are like, "Wow! You got some SUN. You are super SUNBURNED."

DUH. I KNOW. DON'T RUB IT IN. MY SKIN HURTS. SO IT CAN'T HANDLE ANY RUBBING.

Too much? I don't know.
Anyway, the weekend was super fun.

^^^ Our morning view from the condo we stayed at. So beautiful!! ^^^

^^^ LaBeau's the night before. You can't go to Bear Lake without eating at LaBeau's! ^^^

^^^ I asked him to turn around and tell me what he was doing. Which he would not tell me. But that face! I love it. ^^^

p.s. any fabulous remedies for sunburns out there? because guys, i'm serious.
p.p.s. check out Funday Monday over on Love, The Skinny's!

  1. I read on Pinterest that you can freeze Aloe Vera in an ice cube tray so it's cold and soothing on your skin. : ]

  3. If you have access to Mary Kay sunscreen, it's actually built to heal sunburned skin if you get burns, as well. And it's creamy and wonderful.
