Last night I had a bit of a fever, so my mom sent me to bed with some Tylonol PM. Anyway, it knocked me out. My mom shook me awake 15 minutes before I needed to be at work, and I was in desperate need of a shower. It took me FOREVER to wake all the way up. 45 minutes later, I ran out to my car which was covered in frost and decorated with a sweet white note from the parking police saying I was in trouble. A.K.A. parking ticket. I scraped off my car and drove to work. I answered the phone and didn't hear what the man said, so I asked him politely if he would repeat himself. He did. Slowly and loudly. And he continued to talk slowly and loudly to me for the remainder of the conversation. I went out to the garage for to help with shipping, only to find out that I was the only person shipping. So I shipped, and shipped, and shipped some more. My stomach started growling loudly. The sales guys continued to bring me things to ship. Finally the new guy meandered over to help me out. He stood for five minutes staring at the product, and then trudged over to find a box. I didn't see him for another couple minutes. When he returned, he told me that I talk too quietly and that I should probably have eaten lunch by then so I would have energy. Well, at least he had my best interests at heart. I decided to leave him with the rest of the shipping and went upstairs so I could eat. While microwaving my food I realized I had cut my finger and it was bleeding... oops. When I came back to work at the front desk later, it got really busy. Phones were ringing off the hook, and customers were coming in as if their lives depended on it. I got everyone everything they needed, with the exception of a person on the phone who I think hung up after I put her on hold. But I forgot to give the last guys credit card back. I'm so sorry, old man! Come back to Supply Link! That's where your card is... Then some lady called about something on our website, and when I tried to tell her our website was down, she kept repeating, "I have an SKU number! I have an SKU number!" So I just transferred her to someone else. Finally things have settled down, and I'm sitting here sniffling, listening to Run by Ben Kweller, and blogging to you all about my day.
I hope this doesn't come off as complaining... think of it as more of a sarcastic commentary on a wonderful foggy January 6th.
p.s. laying on the couch and watching a movie sounds really good.
I totally miss Arby's.
ReplyDeleteThat has nothing to do with this post, but I'm feeling nostalgic.
I actually thought about that earlier today. I miss it too. When you come to visit, we are going to Arby's.
