lesson learned.

I've learned a lot of lessons from attending college. I've changed in a lot of ways. I've become stronger, smarter, and more self aware. I think going to college is a lot more about learning about life than learning academics. I've learned so much about people. People people people. It is astounding to me how people are so different. That something so normal to you may seem weird to someone else. And I've learned to say ok, it's good that we're different. We don't all have to believe the same things or wear the same things, or live in the same place, or take the same classes, or whatever. We each have our own lives, and we can live them however we choose, and you can't control anyone else's. Which is a little comforting to me, because I feel like I have so little control over my own life... you guys are on your own. I've learned that a sunny day should be cherished. I've learned that good roommates are life savers. I've learned that it's important to get to know people. I've learned that dating is a huge bummer most of the time. That you can't expect people to read your mind. That you should really appreciate a guy who has enough guts to say, I'm interested in you, can I take you on a date? And I've learned that relationships, with anyone, not just boys, are the most important thing. A degree can only take you so far when you're all alone. And I've learned that there is magic at basketball games. That you can only take so many 80's dance parties before you've reached your limit. That I can only keep a planner for about a month. That having a clean kitchen makes a difference. That making a goal to never wear sweats to school is actually doable. (don't ask why I made that goal. stacy and clinton from what not to wear.) But I think, most of all what I've learned is that the future, the future is oh, so bright. And I just may be one of the luckiest people in the world.

p.s. and so begins finals week...

  1. I swear it's been finals week up there for, like, three weeks.

Come eat lunch with me and meet my cat, please. Thank you.

p.s. You made my college career very good, dear Madeline. Very good indeed.
