waking up is the hardest part

Yesterday I wore a yellow skirt. I went on a field trip with my fourth grade class. I told a little boy to please stop elbowing my knees and stepping on my toes. I told another little boy to stop putting his freezing cold water bottle on my head. And I had to explain over and over to another little boy that tomorrow my time was up, and I wouldn't be coming back to their class anymore. The little girls clung to my arms and legs, and asked me about my life and my family. And I stood there shivering, wishing I had worn pants, and smiling at them. Because I wonder what it will be like to be a real teacher.

And later I broke the laminating machine.

p.s. have i mentioned i love other people's birthdays more than my own?
