So I'm going to do something I've never done before... and that is a link up with The Life of Bon! She does these super fun Throwback Thursday posts. And while I usually think I could probably write along with her, I usually don't, and that's the story of my life. But today. Today is about kissing. And anyone who has read my blog cover to cover knows that I LOVE writing about kissing. Ha! I don't know why. But let that be a plug for all the new people to dig through my archives and find all of my first kisses.
Unfortunately for you all, but fortunately for me, all of my first kisses were good. Which I suppose is not very normal? But the best one of all was my very first kiss when I was 18. (Turning 19 in one month.) Now, I've written about this kiss quite a few times, because it just happens to have happened with my now husband Alex!
You guys, it is unreal how in love I am with our love story. I can't describe it, but when I think about it, I end up falling in love with Alex all over again. To me, it is the epitome and proof of the saying, "everything happens for a reason". So, you can read about my first kiss with Alex here, and here, and probably in other posts somewhere along the blog, because that's just how I roll.
But today, I'm going to give you an inside look at the first kiss from the moment it happened in my journal from that time. (Ahh! Even flipping through my journal makes me want to write my love story all over again! I'm a lovesick crazy person! Forgive me!)
March 3, 2009
...I came home from class and started finishing my sketchbook for History of Furniture and Architecture which was due on Tuesday... I had 16 out of 20 sketches left, and I got home at 2:30. I started sketching right when I got home and didn't finish until 9! I hadn't talked to Alex all day, so I texted him and we started talking. Apparently he had been really busy that day too, same as me! So I was completely exhausted (lame, I know) and I was just laying on my bed listening to music and texting him. He asked me if I had any plans for Tuesday night. Ok... back track moment. On Sunday when he came over, Amy made an awkward comment about Alex being too scared to ever kiss me. Also his roommate Shane had finally kissed the girl he liked. So anyway, when he asked me that, I just knew that he was going to take me out and kiss me. So I said I didn't have any plans. I was way nervous, but excited, and I went to sleep at 11:45! The next day all day in class I was worrying about it. But I did want it to happen. I got home and Lyndsay and I went shopping so I could get a cute new shirt to wear. I finally found a scoop neck yellow t-shirt that I loved and I bought it. Then I went home, showered, did my hair and make-up, and got dressed. Tuesday was a beautiful day, really warm and sunny, I even got out of class early! So I was all ready to go. Jeans, new shirt, light white jacket. Alex came to get me, and we went to cafe sabor for dinner. I got tortilla soup which was really good, and then we went to a movie. He took me to see Confessions of a Shopaholic! I had told him how sad I was that my family saw it without me, and he remembered! Isn't that cute? It was a really cute movie, and really funny. He held my hand during it. :) After he turned to me and was like, "is it bad that I liked that movie?" Haha, I like him. Then we left the theater and were on our way home, when he just drove past the apartments. He asked, "do you want to go for a walk?" So I said yes. I KNEW what was going to happen! I was so nervous. So he drove to first dam and we got out of the car and walked onto the dock (a very very short walk). Then we just stood there and hugged because it was a little cold. He's way taller than me so I just laid my head on his chest and we talked about random things. Every now and then I'd look up at him to give him the opportunity, but sometimes my face would get too cold so I had to put my head down again. We could hear some people talking somewhere and noticed there was a car across the way from us. Finally they left. There were geese and ducks everywhere and they were sleeping. Anyway, we were standing there talking and finally I just looked up at him and stayed there. He looked down at me and said, "you look really good tonight", to which I smiled and replied with, "oh thanks, so do you." He laughed and looked up at the sky, then looked back at me and jokingly said, "I try really hard actually," which is a Juno reference and an inside joke. I just laughed at him and dorkily said, "oh really? because I don't try at all!" He chucked about that and asked, "not at all?" And I smiled and said, "ok, maybe a little..." And then we just smiled at each other and the next thing I know he's leaning in for the kiss. He kissed me really... nicely, I guess I'd say. Not way soft, but not forceful or anything. I have no memory of what I did, like if I kissed him back or anything. I do remember thinking to myself, this is weird... but I should just enjoy it. So I did! Haha, I don't even remember how long it was. But I liked it, and I remember wanting to ask him to try it again haha. But when it ended I just did a little ha! laugh and then buried my head in his chest again.
I don't know what I like best about this journal entry, but it probably has something to do with all of the random attention to detail. Like, what time I went to sleep... how perfect the day was... the ducks and geese sleeping. But I can't believe I didn't mention that I was wearing the green beaded necklace! Anyway, sorry for the novel, but that is the true account of my first kiss and I love every second of it.
Hear hear for true love!! (although at the time, we had no idea what we'd become to each other. Isn't that GREAT?! I can't get over it!!!!!!! Ok, am hereby banished from writing about my love. I obviously can't handle it.)
p.s. if you read that whole thing you're amazing. :)
