just me before we met

I'm back.
And this time, I mean for real.
It's over, folks. The most wonderful summer in the world is coming to a close.
EFY has come to an end, and it is a melancholy time in my life.
Half of me is overjoyed, ecstatic, leaping to be back to my own world.
The other half is curling up slowly with sadness, because such a good thing has ended.
But really, I think the excited part will win out.
There is so much in my life to be excited for.
Did I tell you I'm going to Disneyland in a week?
Did I tell you I'm moving back to Logan in three?
Did I tell you anything?
I think not.
I haven't been around for a few months.
I'll tell you everything now.
I'm back.

p.s. stay tuned for lightning storms and country dancing.

somebody told me

Tomorrow afternoon, I will get in the car, pick up my little cousin and his friend, and drive to Logan, UT. This will be the beginning of many trips back to Logan. All so I can teach the gospel to the youth of our church. I am so excited, but secretly dying of nerves as well. This was possibly the best experience of my life when I did it last year, and I can't wait to jump back into it for this summer. But there is always that nervous feeling of not knowing what to expect! Will I have any crazy kids? Will I know what to say to them? Will I be a good teacher? Will I be the "cool counselor?" Will I be able to show them the most important thing in the world, and make them understand how much they need it?
I can't wait to try.

la la la whatever

I was driving to my friend Sarah's house today, to make a wonderful treat, and the route brought back a stream of memories. As I passed by the dimly lit, empty tennis court, I remembered a summer night nearly a year ago, playing tennis on that very court. And standing outside in the dark by a car, talking a lot, because I didn't know how soon it would be over. And not knowing... never knowing, what was about to happen next.

And when I got home, I opened a folder in my email entitled "TOP SECRET". And I was thinking about sharing some of it with you all... because everyone loves a little summer romance!

May 26, 2010 at 11:18 p.m.

So... I wasn't going to email you this right away, but then I thought to myself, "I think Sam* really wanted this song... he acted like he didn't, but pretty sure he would be a little sad if he didn't have it asap. In fact, I think he would be pretty depressed. It is a good song after all. And he might want to listen to it while he travels to Provo and St. George and all the other places he happens to travel to." So, after thinking all of those thoughts to myself, I decided that I should actually send you the song. Let me know if it works or not!

Your Nauvoo Friend Who Is Giving You A Good Song And Hopes You Enjoy It A Lot,

Hey Madeline!!

My "Nauvoo Friend Who Is Giving Me A Good Song And Hopes I Enjoy It A Lot" is so wonderful! Thank you for sharing your entire thought process with me, too. Now I know exactly HOW you decided to send the song to me with such promptness. :) I'm listening to it right now.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for chilling with me yesterday, it was really fun, even though you beat me in foursquare. You also were faster on the first obstacle course. Maybe i need a rematch?

Cordially,

Your friend who gets excited when you're around,

Sam*

And while that may not seem like the most exciting exchange of emails... I promise you, it got better. Do you want to hear the story? I'm in a good mood, and feel like I could tell it. Gather closely, I don't want to have to use my loud voice...

Just say the word, and the story is yours. Until then... I leave you with these unremarkable emails.

p.s. the treats we made were good.

*names have been changed for the normal reason.

i'm about to crack, so let's call this the comeback

So, I'm officially moved back to Farmington, and kind of loving it. And when I say kind of, I don't mean that in a joking way, it's serious. Halfway loving it, halfway still crying about leaving Logan. Sniff. Don't mind me... Can you pass the tissues please?

My room is looking like a disaster area right now. Mostly because when I got home yesterday I was still feeling under the weather, and it took all my strength to drag bag after bag of my stuff downstairs. I set it all on the floor and flopped on the bed, not moving until my sister needed a ride to lacrosse practice.

One of the good things about being home is being able to see friends I haven't had the chance to be with in a while. I got together with my friend Sarah last night for frozen yogurt and catching up, and it was delightful! Both of us seem to think that "sample" means fill your little cup to the overflowing point of every flavor in the store... so what, doesn't everyone do that?

trying to steal little brother's thunder.
And I loved finishing my first night off with a midnight movie. I grabbed my two sisters and cute brother to come with me to Thor. Which I must say was excellent. Why oh why do I love super hero movies so much?? Drool.

betcha didn't know I was that strong, huh?
So... looks like the summer at home is starting out awesome. So I'll wipe my eyes and put on a brave smile, just for you.

p.s. still a little sick. and I hate sniffling my life away, I'm sure it's way annoying, but honestly, blowing your nose every five minutes is just not efficient.

every day, to come my way

So, I'm trying to be happy with where I am in life at the moment... trying not to dwell too much on the future, and lose the opportunity to make memories right now... But I can't help but feel like this:
 and this...
and this...

 and this...
would be so nice right now...

p.s. i have a feeling this summer will be even better than last year :)

Well, that was fun... NEXT!

Ahh... here it is. I've finally run out of time. Thank goodness my summer was so awesome! I'm so lucky I got to have all of the experiences I did, and to meet all of the people that I did. I have made some amazing new friends! I hope this next year brings a lot of great new experiences and a lot of fun. I hope I remember to be brave, and not let any fear get in the way of me making new memories. This year will be great! Let's get it started :)

And now... a tribute to the summer.

There's No Place Like Home...

Ahhh...
It's 1:05 a.m.
I've returned from Washington.
I can't sleep.
I think I slept too much in the car.
My brain won't be quiet. It keeps talking. Telling me things that I don't really want to think about, but I've been pushing them away so much lately, they have to come out right now.
Things like...
school. suitcases. goodbyes. driving. moving. dreams. wishes. goals. grades. future. boys. friends. money. jobs. lost things. oil changes. etc.
I've been on the move so much this summer. I've gotten really expert at packing a suitcase. I've been living out of a suitcase.
Slow it down. Give me a few more days.
I'm tired of being on the go.
Can't I just sit down with someone special and watch the leaves blow in a summer breeze for a while?

p.s. I love rainstorms.

All I Ever Wanted

This summer has been so great! And here comes August...
August always scares me a little... because it means the end of summer is near.
However, I have some really fun things happening this month.
So while I really really don't want summer to end, I can't help being excited for this month.
A lot of this month will be at the beach.
My favorite place.
Bear Lake, Washington, Oregon, California - Disneyland
and it all starts tonight!
VACATION

p.s. I will also be attending the John Mayer/Owl City concert on August 31st. Great way to end off the summer? I think so.

Forever Young

Dear Time,

I feel like I'm running out of you...
...Finally back from EFY and I have so much to do...
......How can I see everyone that I want to see...?
...How can I be everywhere I want to be...?
It's making me anxious, and a little bit scared. I don't want to go back to school! I just want to hide under a blanket, and invent a way to stop you. Please stop moving so quickly. I'm having a great summer! I need more of you so that I can adequately do the things I want to do. I promise I'll use you wisely. Please please please.

Love,
Madeline

made it.

Well, just got back from my last week of EFY!
I can't believe it! Six weeks really flew by. I'm pretty sure it was the best experience of my life! I love all of the people I got to meet, and how much I grew as a person! This really was a wonderful way to spend my summer. EFY is such an awesome program! I really hope that all the kids who go get something out of it.
Not going to lie though... I'm a little bit relieved that I'm done. It's exhausting work! I love it so much, but I'm ready for some time to myself this summer. I have some super exciting things coming up in the next few weeks! Bear Lake trip, family vacation to Washington, Disneyland, and just hanging with all of my friends until school begins at the end of August!

Yeah... I don't really have anything else to say... I just wanted to write on this blog.

Are You Real?

This week home has been so good.
I don't want it to end... but I also want to be back at EFY.
I wish I could have both! Summer is flying by....and I am loving EVERY minute.

Tik Tok

Guys, I know like half of my blogs have been about summer and the future but I just wanted to drop in and say that...

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY OF CLASSES.

No more evolution!
No more human development!
No more psychology of gender!
No more elementary education!
No more kickboxing!

Now I just have to study for finals...

Guess What Guys?

only THREE MORE WEEKS until summer!!
Can I tell you how excited I am?

No, I can't tell you. Because my excitement is greater than words.

I am going to have so much fun this summer. A trip to Nauvoo, being an EFY Counselor, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends every day!!

I am loving this warm weather. It's hard to keep my head in school right now.

I can't even think what to write on this blog that no one reads because my head is so s c a t t e r b r a i n e d and all I can think about is efy music and sunlight and cute clothes and summer nights and I just need to focus on school but that is simply not possible right now so I am telling the blogging world that I will probably fail all my tests because I might go outside and sit on the grass and soak up the sun and forget all about going to class.

Summer....
